Re-Claiming Disk Space on your AS400 just
got Easier!
KDI has taken re-organizing physical file members on the AS400
to the next level by allowing the RGZPFM command to remove (compress)
deleted records from multiple
members of physical files in the database.
Save time and effort re-claiming space on your AS400 using KDI's
RGZPFM+ tool.
Click on the appropriate links below to download the RGZPFM +
utility and then follow the Installation and Users instructions
also listed below.
The KDITOOLS library is packaged
as an AS/400 save file which has been zipped to reduce the size
of the file in order to improve download speeds and reduce network
traffic.
1.
Download the required zipped files
to your PC. Each zip file will contain a single AS/400 save
file object
2.
Unzip the file into a directory on
your PC using your favourite unzip tool. For example: UNZIP
file-name.ZIP (where "file-name" is
the name of the zip file.)
Note: The unzipped
file may be up to 3 times larger than the zipped version so
please ensure you have enough space on your PC hard drive.
3.
Transfer the unzipped save files
to your AS/400 or iSeries system via FTP. Start a command window
and then chang to the directory containing the unzipped save
file. Start FTP to your AS/400 or iSeries host and transfer
the save file by issuing the following commands. Replace the
words "host-system", "user-profile", "password",
and "file-name" with appropriate values for your environment.
FTP host-system
user-profile
password
quote site namefmt 1
cd /QSYS.LIB/QGPL.LIB
bin
put file-name.savf
quit
4.
Now it is time to clean up your PC
by deleting the zipped files and the unzipped save files from
your PC.
5.
Next, create an empty KDITOOLS library.
CRTLIB
LIB(KDITOOLS)
6.
The last thing to do is to restore
the KDITOOLS library.
